A Russian Passport

Around 1922, the Broitman family fled their small villiage in Southern Russia (Savran, Ukraine), and were smuggled into Romania. From there, they wished to travel to the US (1924). However , the quota had closed, and they wound up going to Canada. Below is one of the two passports that remain from their trip - one for Abraham Broitman, and one for Chaika Broitman and the children. The stamps on one of the documents detail the journey that Chaika Broitman and her children made - from Bucarest, Romania to Serbia to Italy, and finally to Halifax, Canada more than a month later. In 1927, they entered the US at Niagra Falls.
